Were you looking for Atelier Legoff? You are in the right place. Atelier Legoff becomes FL Toussaint. The name changes, not the craftsman or the work done in the workshop. I am François-Louis Toussaint, a knife maker established in Courpière, in the Thiers basin. I continue to design and make my knives in the same workshop, using the same methods. This page summarizes what changes — the name — and what continues: everything else.
A new name, the same craftsman
I opened my workshop under the name Atelier Legoff. The name FL Toussaint more simply says who makes them: François-Louis Toussaint, artisan cutler. FL are my initials; Toussaint, my name. An identifiable craftsman, a name, a signature.
This change does not mark any break. No buyout, no new owner, no relocation. I have been working in cutlery since 2010, including about ten years at Perceval, in Thiers, before opening my own workshop. This career in cutlery simply continue under a name that resembles me more.
Which does not change
The change concerns the name under which I present my work. Specifically:
- the craftsman: I design, adjust, assemble, and finish the knives myself;
- the workshop, still located at Courpière, in the Thiers basin ;
- the models already developed, whether they are in the catalog or in the archives;
- the pieces made under the former name, which I fully take responsibility for;
- the manufacturing methods, which I openly document;
- attention given to use, materials, fitting, and finishing.
Atelier Legoff knives are part of the history of FL Toussaint
If you own a knife signed Atelier Legoff, you own a knife that I made. I do not renounce any of these pieces: they document the evolution of my work, from the first models to the current series. You will find them in the achievements and archives of the workshop.
Some forms developed at that time continue to evolve. They may return in future series, depending on the currently active range.
FL Toussaint, the continuation of the work
The workshop now produces pocket knives, reinterpreted regional knives, and knives intended for the kitchen or table, as unique pieces or in small series. The French artisanal knives available, the upcoming series, and workshop information are now published solely under the name FL Toussaint.
