General Terms and Conditions of Sale (GTC)
1. Subject Matter and Scope
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale (hereinafter "GTC") govern, without restriction or reservation, all product sales offered by FRANÇOIS-LOUIS TOUSSAINT – ARTISAN KNIFEMAKER, operated by:
EI François-Louis Toussaint
15 avenue des États-Unis
63300 THIERS – France
SIRET: 917418030 00016

Contact: contact@fl-toussaint.fr
Sales are conducted remotely via the website fl-toussaint.fr (hereinafter the "Website").
By placing an order on the Website, the customer (hereinafter "you") unconditionally accepts these GTC. They define the rights and obligations of the seller (hereinafter "we") and the customer in the context of distance purchases of knives and cutting tools for culinary and utility use.
Territory: these GTC apply to orders delivered to mainland France (including Corsica), Europe, and internationally, subject to the countries served and delivery options available at the time of order.
Intended audience: consumers and, where applicable, small trade professionals. Given the nature of the products, you certify that you are of legal age (18 or over) at the time of ordering. The sale of knives to minors is prohibited.
2. Products and Availability
2.1 Catalogue Products
We take the greatest care in presenting our products and describing their essential characteristics. Each product page may include: photographs, technical descriptions, materials, and usage and care recommendations.
Visuals: photographs are for illustrative purposes only. Slight differences in shade, texture or finish may exist depending on the screen, manufacturing process and materials, without affecting the essential characteristics of the product.
Availability: catalogue offers are valid while visible on the Website, subject to available stock. In the event of unavailability after an order has been placed, we will inform you as soon as possible; you may then obtain a refund for the unavailable item or, with your agreement, a replacement with an equivalent product.
2.2 Custom Orders and Personalisation
Certain orders may be carried out on a quote basis (one-off piece, adaptation, personalisation). In such cases, the sale is only final after (i) written acceptance of the quote, and (ii) receipt of the amounts specified in the quote.
Types of projects we accept:
- Knives designed to be used;
- One-off pieces or adaptations of existing models;
- Projects consistent with the workshop's formal and technical language.
Projects we decline: we do not produce reproductions based on licensed characters, intellectual property, or protected universes, nor purely decorative pieces with no practical function. Every piece is designed to be functional, durable and balanced.
Materials: to guarantee the quality, durability and safety of each piece, the materials used for custom work are selected and supplied by the workshop. We do not work with customer-supplied materials.
Personalisation of an existing model:
When an order consists of personalising an existing model (choice of materials, finishes, available options), a quote is drawn up directly, without any separately billed design phase. The project is scheduled after the quote has been approved.
Bespoke creation (design phase):
For projects involving the design of a specific piece (new shape, particular proportions, dedicated ergonomics), a preliminary design phase may be required before a quote can be issued. This phase may include in-depth discussions, reflection on proportions and ergonomics, and sketches. It represents real working time and is billed as a fixed fee, independent of the manufacturing cost.
Approval and manufacture:
- Upon approval of the quote, a 50% deposit is required to begin manufacture.
- The piece is made in the workshop in accordance with the agreed specifications.
- Photographs of the finished piece may be shared.
- The remaining 50% balance is due before dispatch.
Lead times and availability: custom creations are accepted in limited numbers. Lead times vary depending on complexity and technical choices. An initial discussion allows us to assess feasibility and provide an estimated timeframe before a quote is issued.
3. Pricing and Payment
Prices: prices are quoted in euros, excluding VAT. As a sole trader under the French micro-entrepreneur regime, VAT is not applicable (Art. 293 B of the French General Tax Code). Delivery charges are displayed before final order confirmation. The prices applicable are those in force at the time the order is placed.
Manifest error: in the event of a manifest pricing error (an obviously derisory price resulting from a technical fault or incident), we reserve the right to cancel the sale, after informing the customer and refunding any amounts already collected.
Payment: except in the case of custom orders (payment as per quote), full payment is due at the time of ordering. No order will be dispatched without complete payment. Amounts paid do not constitute deposits or advance payments unless explicitly stated in a quote.
3.1 Accepted Payment Methods
- Credit/debit card (CB, Visa, Mastercard) via PayPal gateway, with no PayPal account required.
- PayPal account.
- PayPal Pay in 4 for eligible purchases, subject to PayPal approval and applicable terms.
All transactions are encrypted. FRANÇOIS-LOUIS TOUSSAINT does not access or store your banking details.
3.2 Payment Failure, Verification and Fraud
If payment is declined by the bank or PayPal, the order will not be confirmed. We may suspend or cancel an order in the event of non-payment, a payment incident, or suspected fraud, and may refuse an order from a customer with an outstanding payment dispute.
For certain amounts or circumstances (different delivery address, atypical order), supporting documents (proof of identity, proof of address) may be requested. Without a response within 3 working days, the order may be cancelled as a security measure.
4. Ordering Process and Confirmation
- Select items and add them to your cart.
- Review your cart: check quantities, prices, total and estimated delivery costs.
- Sign in or create an account: provide accurate and up-to-date information; keep your password confidential.

Proof of transaction: logs, electronic confirmations and computer records constitute proof of the transaction. Invoices and orders are archived on a durable medium and are enforceable in the event of a dispute.
Electronic signature: clicking to confirm your order constitutes your electronic signature and commitment to pay, and implies full acceptance of these GTC.
Right to refuse: we reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order in the event of a manifest anomaly (pricing, availability), a payment incident, or a fraud risk.
