Description

Inspiration and design of the World Woods table knives

The World Woods table knives draw on the classic forms of older table knives, with a fine, pointed blade featuring a discreet swedge that visually lightens the line. The handle ends in a diamond point — a nod to period finishing — while keeping a gentle, edge-free curve for a comfortable grip.

Stainless-steel blade

  • Made from 2 mm-thick Z50CDV13, this steel provides remarkable cutting performance. The food industry uses it for its ease of sharpening and corrosion resistance.
  • The flat grind provides excellent versatility for different cutting tasks.
  • A swedge is cut to refine the blade tip.

Mixed-wood handles

  • Bog oak (Poland): ancient wood with deep brown-to-black tones, discreet grain and a distinctive natural patina.

  • Bubinga (Equatorial Africa): deep red with copper highlights and irregular dark veins. A dense, lively wood.

  • Wenge (Equatorial Africa): very dark brown to almost black, striped with fine lighter lines. Raw texture and graphic elegance.

  • Boxwood (France): pale blond wood with a very fine, even, satin-like grain. Understated, bright and particularly soft to the touch.

  • Cocobolo (Central America): intense reddish-brown with dark, sometimes almost black veins. Oily-looking, warm and deep.

  • Snakewood (French Guiana): light yellow marked by dark scale-like spots. A distinctive, lively and contrasting natural pattern.

  • The scales are mounted over a black fibreglass spacer with stainless-steel rivets, providing strength and durability.
  • This model is shaped and assembled by hand in our workshop in Courpière.
